1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using baseconf.com or the BaseConf desktop application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use BaseConf.

2. Service Description

BaseConf provides a web-based script generator and a desktop application for Windows configuration management.

  • The web tools generate PowerShell scripts for configuring Windows settings.
  • The desktop application applies configurations, creates profiles, and manages backups.

3. Web Tool Usage

The free web configurators require no account. Scripts are generated client-side in your browser. We do not see, store, or transmit the scripts you generate. All script generation happens locally in your browser.

4. Desktop Application

The BaseConf desktop application includes two modes:

  • Runner — Free. Applies .baseconf profiles and runs generated scripts.
  • Builder — Requires a license. Provides the full configuration editor, profile management, and backup tools.

The application modifies Windows settings including registry keys, power configurations, services, and installed applications. You are responsible for reviewing all scripts and configurations before applying them.

5. License Keys

Builder licenses are tied to machine activations:

  • Personal: 1 machine activation.
  • MSP: Up to 5 machine activations.
  • MSP Team: Up to 20 machine activations.

Licenses can be deactivated and transferred to a different machine. MSP and MSP Team licenses renew annually. If a subscription lapses, the application reverts to Runner mode.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer the .baseconf file format for commercial purposes.
  • Redistribute the Builder application as your own product.
  • Use BaseConf to intentionally damage systems.
  • Remove or alter copyright notices or branding from BaseConf.

7. Intellectual Property

BaseConf, the BaseConf logo, and the .baseconf file format are the property of BaseConf. All rights are reserved.

Generated PowerShell scripts are yours. You are free to use, modify, and distribute any scripts generated by BaseConf without restriction.

8. Disclaimer of Warranty

BaseConf is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While we strive for accuracy, Windows registry modifications and system configuration changes carry inherent risk.

  • Always review generated scripts before running them.
  • Always maintain backups of your system and important data.

We are not responsible for system issues, data loss, or other problems caused by configurations you choose to apply.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BaseConf's total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these terms or your use of BaseConf shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Refund Policy

Builder licenses include a 14-day refund period from the date of purchase. If you are unsatisfied, contact [email protected] within 14 days for a full refund.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your license if you violate these terms. You may stop using BaseConf at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Builder features ceases, but you retain any scripts you have already generated.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Your continued use of BaseConf after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in accordance with applicable U.S. law.
